Do you want to be set free from the worst relationship ever?
We can help.
I understand the complex emotions men face that often accompany a divorce. Regardless of whether you initiated the divorce, most men experience feelings of uncertainty and fear regarding the process.
Is your lawyer more concerned about fees than your children’s future?
We can help.
The era of mothers automatically receiving sole legal and physical custody of the children is ending. Fathers are winning custody cases at an unprecedented rate, which is heartening news for many.
Tired of supporting your ex-wife? Alimony is negotiable.
We can help.
If you are the big earner, payments to your ex-wife should serve to help her move on – not support her for life. Alimony is negotiable and I’m here to guide you through the complexities of your divorce.
Divorcing a Narcissist
Experts estimate that about 5% of women and 8% of men have narcissistic personality disorder. Although not as common as other personality disorders, narcissists can make divorce an emotionally-exhausting uphill battle for you. Ultimately, narcissists are only interested in themselves. This mentality can make it difficult for you to communicate and negotiate during a divorce. Yes, divorcing a narcissist is never easy, but before you slap this label on your partner, it’s important to have a better understanding of what a narcissist is.
Common Questions About New Jersey Divorce
You must submit a “Complaint for Divorce/Dissolution” in the county where the reason for the divorce occurred (for example, where the separation ended).
Each divorce is unique, and we simply can’t account for all variables. You can keep costs down by hiring an experienced attorney who’s committed to helping you reach a resolution.
Your divorce could be resolved in a matter of months, but it can last much longer in the case of a high conflict divorce.
No, a separation is not legally required if you file for divorce due to irreconcilable differences. There are also fault options, such as adultery, that don’t require separation.
To file irreconcilable differences, you must assert that differences have persisted at least six months. This is generally subjective and comes with a fairly low burden of proof.
Reasons such as adultery, a prolonged separation, irreconcilable differences, and extreme cruelty are all legal grounds for a divorce.
Commonly, separating involves negotiating a settlement agreement which is legally binding when signed by both parties. It can resolve spousal support, custody, and other issues.
Generally, spouses can choose how they’d like to divide their marital assets. If the parties can’t reach an agreement, the court will determine how assets are divided.
After filing, your attorney will help you disclose the financials of your marriage. You will either reach a settlement with your spouse or go to court to resolve the divorce.
It can be beneficial for you to file first, since you’ll get to make your initial demands and your spouse will be required to respond to those requests.

I greatly appreciated the responsiveness, professionalism and support I received from The Micklin Law Group, LLC during a very difficult time. I felt confident Brad and the team had my best interests in mind. I have heard nightmare stories from people about their attorneys and how they “got screwed.” My experience was extremely client focused and centered on making sure I was comfortable with the final outcome. Brad and Rachel both present very well in court. They were well prepared and confident. Overall, a very good experience considering the circumstances.”Allen B.
I had an extremely positive experience with Brad Micklin and his team. I was consistently shown compassion backed up by knowledge of the law. When I hired Brad Micklin I was scared and in the dark about an estate situation – Mr. Micklin took immediate action putting me at ease rendering the adversary “powerless” and shone a spotlight on many crooked hidden deeds that had been going on while I was kept in the dark. I was finally protected and had “legs to stand on”. Thank you Mr. Micklin!”Paul G.
Brad and his office kept me up to date with the case and let me know what to expect. He was very honest from the beginning and provided caring and detailed attention to my case. He was very sensitive to our needs and his staff was also very caring and attentive. I would hire him again without hesitation. I am very satisfied with the outcome he was able to deliver. He protected me and what I was entitled to. He not only earned a life-long client, but also a friend. I don’t see a need to look for any other lawyer to represent me.”Dan S.
