Micklin Law Group Custody Scholarship
We offer this award in honor of the late Judge Eugene H. Austin, Brad Micklin’s professional mentor and friend. Judge Austin took a chance on Brad by offering him the incredible opportunity to serve as his judicial law clerk over the application of thousands of other applicants.
The judge’s fatherly advice over the years helped shape Brad’s career, and Brad is forever grateful for his guidance. In his honor, The Micklin Law Group is pleased to offer single fathers the Honorable Eugene H. Austin, J.S.C. annual scholarship fund.
As a family law attorney who has focused on men’s and fathers’ rights for over 20 years, Brad Micklin has seen the challenges fathers face, especially in a world where mothers and their needs are often prioritized. Not every child has a loving and involved father. We want to honor dads who stick by their child’s side and provide them the best possible life. No child should be prevented from obtaining an education because of their family’s current financial situation.
The award is granted once each year and is needs-based.
The scholarship provides an annual $1,000 award to a dad who is in need of financial assistance. It can be used for any education-related expenses, so you can do whatever is best for your family.
The current scholarship deadline is July 31st, 2023 for Fall Semester.
To apply, please complete our online application below. All application materials must be received by the deadlines in order to be considered for the scholarship. Awards will be announced by December 1st, 2023.
Any taxes on scholarships are the responsibility of the award recipient. 2022 Winner of The Honorable Eugene H. Austin, J.S.C. Scholarship: Daniel Hewitt
“I am a father of two teenage girls, ages 17 and 15. I have custody of them during the school weeks. It has been a challenge to raise them by myself especially when going through a divorce (2021) and during a pandemic when both children were fully remote at school during 2020. My greatest strengths are patience, tenacity and staying on top of things as I help my daughters through their last few years of school.”
